School Counselor Supports
School Counselor support has a focus on Social Emotional Learning. They can support students with life experiences that impact their ability to perform to their potential.
The goal of School Counsellor support is to promote student well-being and to help develop and support social and emotional skills within students who are not yet using age appropriate skills independently.
School Counselor supports may include but are not limited to:
- Small group and individual counseling for a variety of needs - including but not limited to social and emotional regulation skills.
- In-class support for skills that are being developed.
- Consultation with school staff and the Teaching Support Team as necessary.
- Referral to and/or consultation with outside agencies.
- Behavioural Observations and supports.
- Check-ins with students who need additional one-on-one adult supports.
- Support for families in accessing agency supports within the community .
- Playground support for students who struggle with less structured settings, or are working on building specific social skills.
